IANA CONVENTION

About the convention

For over 20 years, IANA has brought together Muslim communities from across North America to celebrate knowledge, unity, and faith. The annual IANA Convention is more than just a weekend of lectures. It’s a space where families, youth, scholars, and community leaders come together to reconnect with deen, culture, and each other.

At its heart, this convention is about building community. It’s about creating moments where a young person hears a lecture that stays with them for years… where a family walks into the bazaar and sees the brilliance of Muslim creativity on display… where brothers come together on the basketball court and leave with brotherhood. It’s about that feeling you get when you’re surrounded by thousands of people who believe in something greater, all gathered for the same reason: to grow in their faith and strengthen the ties that bind us as an ummah.

What makes this convention special is its balance. Traditional scholarship rooted in Qur’an and Sunnah, paired with programming that speaks to the realities of today. You’ll find reminders that awaken the heart, spaces designed for women and youth, Somali- and English-language sessions, leadership discussions, and interactive workshops that encourage learning by doing.

From Shah iyo Sheeko sessions to Qur’an competitions, from packed lecture halls to quiet corners where lifelong friendships begin, the IANA Convention is a full-spectrum experience. It’s where faith is reignited, connections are made, and service to the community is not just discussed. It’s lived.

Whether you’ve been attending for years or it’s your first time, the IANA Convention offers something lasting. Not just a memory; but a movement toward something better, together.
